Oh beautiful, lovely weekend, you can’t be over yet. The last two days were typical summer days – summer days like we’ve rarely seen lately. But not only the clouds disappeared, so did the waves….well almost. It was not quite flat.
Saturday was small and clean early. A perfect morning for Bruce 2 (my longboard). The banks in Bondi are quite good at the moment and despite highish tide early I’ve managed to get some fun rides in with my massive board. After the morning surf, I made my way up North to Whale beach. The banks were alright there too and the surf was maybe a tad bigger than Bondi but the wind was in early and made mush out of the surface soon.
I did want to check out the Manly surfcomp while I was on the dark side anyway but then there were so many cars and I could not be bothered. Does not sound like I’ve missed out on too much though. All friends’ report did not sound too exciting.
Sunday morning was almost a carbon copy of Saturday. Only that it was a tad smaller and more inconsistent. I went out early again with Bruce and had a fun surf until the wind ruffled things up a bit and the tide got simply too high to catch a wave – not even with a boat.
It picked up a bit in the afternoon and looked like fun. I waited for my evening glass off but the wait did not pay off. By the time I got in the tide was super high again and a lot of work paddling. I don’t know but somehow I did not have a great surf at all. One of these days were it looks fun but you just don’t get into it. I blame the chocolate ice cream cake I stuffed my face with in the afternoon.
The beginning of next week is looking good. It should pick up a bit. South East Swell forecast with light winds and mid tide for the early morning surf…
