The surf forecast was looking pretty promising for the weekend, small Saturday but South swell was due to hit Bondi Sat avo/Sun morning. Well, the Saturday part was right. It was small on Saturday morning but oh so beautiful. It was one of these crisp mornings 1-2 ft groomed by offshore winds. The banks in Bondi are really quite nice at the moment. I had an absolute ball on Bruce (that’s my longboard for any new readers). The only problem was that the sun and the fairly warm water coaxed me into wearing shorts and a wetsuit top only. Far out, after 45 min it felt like I turned into an ice cube. The wind came from the West (from the Snowy mountains – so I’ve been told – thanks Jules) and was f…ing freezing.
The rest of Saturday was not too exciting and gave the surf a miss.Sunday morning was the opposite of Saturday. Still only 1-2 ft (that’s where the surf forecast started to get it really wrong). But unlike Saturday it was cloudy and above all onshore. Not really inviting. I still went out for a bit of a surf with the fish and it actually turned out to be quite fun. Yay. So much fun that I went a second time in the afternoon. It picked up slightly and cleaned up a bit. Like I always say better not so great waves than none at all.
The forecast for the week looks ok. There is a bit of South Swell coming our way. Well, we shall see…
