Sorry fellow surf peeps, I’m afraid I’ve not got much to report this weekend. Partly, because surf conditions were not that exciting. Partly, because I was a bit under the weather myself (you don’t have to feel sorry for me because it was totally self-inflicted). So believe it or not but I did not surf all weekend. That hardly ever happens but it’s true. No surf all weekend for me.
That does not mean there were no waves. It was actually about 3ft but onshore and hence really messy. However, it looked surfable and I’m sure if you went looking for a wave, you would have found some good surf in a protected corner somewhere. I accidentally went out on Friday night though and my severe Margarita hangover only got me as far as the coffee-shop down the road. Oh and I made it to the surfshop. Unfortunately, the hangover did not stop me from adding a new board to my already impressive board family of five. In some hangover daze I’ve decided that I needed a new board for my trip to Bali (to be fair I’ve discovered two massive creases in my previous Bali board and I’m afraid it’s not even going to survive the transport). And I happened to find the perfect new board – well not quite new. It’s second hand but in a great condition and just perfect for Bali.
Sunday, I got up bright and early after a quiet one (yes good girl I hear you say). But despite a new board, I just could not get myself to go for a surf. It was freezing cold, 3ft still, but super messy and the wind was still howling onshore. I’ve decided to head to a well overdue yoga class instead which was really nice too. Good to get a stretch in from time to time. Also, I’ve figured I’ve surfed every single day during the week in pretty good conditions, so I really could not be bothered. And probably the prospect of perfect waves I’ll get next weekend have probably contributed to my lack of motivation to surf in a 3ft onshore mess. (flying to Indo on Friday – whoop whoop). But hey I’m sure some of you may have scored big time though. I hear Manly was quite good for example.
I think we are going to have waves all week but it will be quite windy until midweek. I guess it’s going to be surfable again by Wednesday or so…I really hope so because I would like to try my new stick before I take it to Indo. Stay tuned – the next few weekend wave wraps will be from Bali and Java. Yeooooowwwww surfholiday…
Clauds x
