Another stunning weekend…it felt more like summer than winter. No cloud (well only little ones anyway) in the sky all weekend. It was a tad bit chilly in the morning but really warm during the day. Like in real summer, there was not much happening in the wave department either.
On Saturday, it was about 1ft in Bondi with the occasional bigger wave coming through but you would have been struggling without a mal or fish. I took out Bruce, my mal, and had an absolute ball. The banks were good and the small waves were lining up nicely. Strangely it was not busy either. Usually warm weather and small waves attract heaps of tourists but nope not many people out at all. In the afternoon I went to Manly and regretted not bringing my board. It was double the size of Bondi and banks were fantastic. It looked like so much fun. I was almost tempted hiring a board…
Sunday was more of the same. Small but fun waves. I stayed in Bondi and took Bruce out once more. I stayed clear of the middle bank where I was on Saturday just because they had the longboard comp on. So I took Bruce to South Bondi and again so much fun. It started getting better too and it was bigger than Saturday. Nice lefts and rights and unlike Saturday, it was surfable on a shortboard too. I was still glad to have Bruce out and scored some really fun, long rides. I had a really long busy week so I was too tired to go for another one but it looked good all day.
So even if it was really small and I did not expect to get much surf in, it was heaps of fun. Thanks to Bruce.
Looks like we are in for a bit of a South swell on Tuesday. Nothing too big but we shall see. Oh and I would not mind if the nice weather was here to stay…
Have a good one.
