Roadie

Last weekend was a pretty good one in the wave and weather department. I hope you scored a few. I managed to sneak in a few good ones down the coast with my gidget friends.

We caught up on Saturday morning kind of early. The sun was out, no breeze of wind and surf was up. Frothing, we were headed for the National Park. The drive was a breeze and put to good use to catch up on the latest gossip.

Waves were looking good and a bit bigger than we anticipated. It was clean and peaky. You never see girls so quickly change. The surf was great fun to start with. Just perfect. Not too big so it’s hard work but not too small either. But we only had about an hour of good waves before it turned to nothingness. The banks could not handle the incoming tide and what were peaky 3-4 footers with the occasional barrel turned into mean close-outs. I did manage to catch a few fast ones but I did have a few mean wipe-outs too. They even looked mean. A dude paddled up to me and with a broad grin on his face: “I saw you stacking it.” I was a bit embarrassed at first but he quickly added: “that was really good, you really went for it, don’t know many girls who would go for it like that….” So I guess it was a compliment after all. Either way, it did not get any better which was a bit of a shame as we all were super keen to stay in longer if the waves would have been any better.

Our grumbling bellies were happy for it when we finally conceded and accepted the fact that it won’t get any better anymore. We did feel a bit sorry for the people who were about to head in when we came out. It really did not look anything like when we first got there.

Surfed out we concluded our roadie with a nice lunch and some more gossip. No more talking in the car on the way back as all the gidgets (the ones who were not driving) were exhausted and fell asleep in the car…as you do.

Looks like the waves are staying with us all week. A bit windy at the moment but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are looking really good at the moment.

Have a great week gidgets and friends of gidgets
