I can’t believe it but our November Surf-Away is already history. Time flies when you are having fun…
Everyone had a great time (that’s what the gidgets told us at least…). Everything fell into place perfectly. After the rather volatile weather of recent weeks, we were super lucky with the weather. Even though we got caught in torrential rain numerous times on the way down, pretty much from Kiama onwards the heavy rainclouds lifted and we were blessed with sunshine from thereon. Whoop whoop.
We were mostly lucky with the surf conditions too. Well, depending on the group you were in. It was perfect for the beginners. We found a little protected corner and they had the best time for all three of their surf lessons. It was as good as it gets for when you first start out. Not so lucky was the more advanced gidget. It was really a bit too small in the protected corner if you knew how to surf already and all the other beaches were a bit all over the shop. I went out with her anyway and I was soooo proud of her. The conditions were quite full on but she did so well and caught some really good waves. In the end, everyone had their fair share of waves which made for some quite tired but happy gidgets.
Ali, our resident nutritionist and yogi, dished out delicious meals again. This time, she also brought a little test thingy where she could test how well eat and stuff (Sorry Ali, I will never remember the name of that thing) which led to some interesting (and some more serious than others) conversations about nutrition. Ali patiently answered all our questions around food and diet. One things for sure, we all learnt a thing or two about food. The tired gidgets were also quite grateful when Ali helped stretching out tired paddle arms with some yoga moves.
All the ladies who joined this weekend were super lovely and fun to hang out with… ok that’s nothing new, they ususally are J. That’s what I love about the weekends. You always meet interesting people from all walks of life. Quite often we have a random mix of ladies. This time, we had a group of girlfriends who booked together. And the weekends are just perfect for long overdue catch-ups and quality time with the besties.
To the gidgets who came along. Thanks so much for joining. It was great having you, we had a ball. Hope you did too and see you next time.
To the gidgets who stayed at home, looked like you had some ok waves in the hood? I hope you got some surf in this morning before it all went to sh$%s? I missed out this morning. I was too tired after my marathon teaching sessions on the weekend. Bummer, does not look like it’s going to calm down anytime soon neither….4 metres peaking tonight…pfffft….guess who’s sleeping in…
