Every Gidget is different and every gidget has different nutritional needs but I’m pretty sure every gidget loooooves Green Smoothies…So Carin from Galas Organic Kitchen has given us a great green smoothie base recipe. From here you can add whatever your gidget heart (or muscles or bowels) desire and create a healthy, liquid meal for you to sustain you through your next surf session.
Base ingredients
2 cups filtered water
1-2 ripe bananas
1/4 bunch parsley or 3 leaves of squeaky fresh kale
A nice squeeze of fresh lemon juice
Pinch of cinnamon to assist regulation of blood sugar levels
blend and you you’ve got your base…
Now you can add optional goodies
1/2 tsp spirulina for some extra nutrition
1 tbsp protein powder for your tired surf muscles
1 tsp flaxseed oil or 1 tsp psyllium husk for happy bowel movements
A few soaked almonds for protein
A couple of soaked prunes for extra iron
