Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and got some fun waves in. I’m still lying low and only had a few little surfs in Bondi. Luckily, a lot of people seemed to have escaped the city for the long weekend. So whilst it was busy, it was nowhere close as crowded, as one would expect on a long weekend with waves and sunshine about. The banks are quite nice too at the moment. Saturday and Sunday were the best days. Monday was a bit of a day to forget with choppy onshore. Mind you I still some people out there having a ball. Some actually prefer Bondi on these onshore days.
Hope you also did not forget to change your clocks. I thought I was super prepared, I even wrote a smarty pants article about it last week and guess what happened to me Sunday…I forgot to change the clocks (assuming my phone had changed automatically but did not) and missed a catch up with a friend. Oh dear…
The October long weekend also marked another event in the surfing calendar…not necessary a welcome one…flags are up which means that the surfing area is pretty much halved or in case of Tama closed during the day. With a softie you still getting away surfing in the ‘non surfing area’ but you are still not meant to surf between the flags. Another reason to get up for the early morning surf before the lifeguards put the flags up.
One might get a bit grumpy now in light of the above…flags up, one hour less sleep and long weekend over but don’t despair gidgets, here are the good news:
- We’ll have waves all week in the 2-3 foot range
- 33 degrees forecast for tomorrow and sun all week long
- It’s a short week AND
- It’s still light by the time you get home from work. Whoop Whoop.
On that note, have a great week gidgets and friends of gidgets.
